Surplus City was incorporated in October 1962 by Carl N. Thomas (Wimpy Thomas) and is still owned by him today. Suplus City has had two locations in southwest Jackson, Mississippi for over 35 years.

In 1998 Mr. Thomas bought an indoor shooting range on Highway 80 in Clinton, Mississippi. In July 2000 he built a store next to the range. He added five new rifle bays to the range, giving that building over 20,000 square feet. The sporting goods store has over 25,000 square feet.

Surplus City has been a member of Nation’s Best Sports, the largest volume sporting goods buying group in the USA, since 1965. We are also a member of the National Sporting Goods Association.
